Continuation of a new me…

Today my wife and I embark on a diet in preparation for next June when she is Chief Bridesmaid and I am Best Man at a wedding. To be honest, my gorgeous wife does not need to diet, but as ever she is supporting me in my endeavours and joined me for our early breakfast of 6 nuts each. I have set myself the challenge of reaching 82Kilos (or 13 Stone in old money) – somewhat ambitious perhaps, but hopefully 9 months should be enough (people can have an entire baby in that amount of time!).

This is not the first time I have been on a diet and probably will not be the last. My friend Rob at Revolution Personal Training Studios has given me some great advice and is a great motivator; one of the tactics he advocates is envisaging your goal as you work towards it. As someone who is not only fat but sinful, it is worth remembering this advice not only in my diet but also in my Christian life…

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14
